Today I’d like to take a second to talk about Non Scale Victories (NSV). If you’ve ever embarked in any kind of change in your eating and exercise program, usually one of the main things you focus on is the number on the scale and whether or not it’s moving in the right direction.
One of the wonderful attributes of Whole 30 is that it challenges you to think about other changes that are happening with your health. Have you noticed anything yet?
As for me, I have noticed a couple of things that have stopped me in my tracks and allowed me to make a mental note of what I’m experiencing.
For instance, this morning I needed to run upstairs and grab something before leaving the house to take my son to school. Usually this makes my arthritic hip (more on that later…) scream in pain but I got about 4 steps in and realized that it wasn’t hurting and I hadn’t taken any Advil… NSV!
I’ve also noticed better sleep quality, sleeping through the night and waking up feeling very refreshed.
Finally, I’ve also noticed my body composition has shifted. Not sure how to put this but my skin feels smoother and firmer. Muscle tone is more defined and I have a glow to my skin that wasn’t there a week ago.
What are your NSVs? Please share in the comments below- I’d love to hear what effects you’re seeing so far.
Breakfast: Poached egg over asparagus with hashbrowns.
Lunch: Leftover dinner from last night; Thai Beef Stew.
Dinner: (bad lighting…) Whole Roasted Lemon Chicken, Blasted Broccoli, Rosemary Roasted Potatoes
