Another round of Whole 30 under my belt. How do I feel you ask? AMAZING! I’m down another 8 pounds. (13 total from last fall as I gained 3 pounds back over Christmas … could have been worse, I’m not complaining).
- My clothes are fitting looser, a pair of cords I own are almost too big (hurrah!).
- Skin is vibrant and healthy
- Body composition has changed, smoother skin, less “bumpy”, more toned
- Less bloat
- Amazing sleep
- No heartburn
- Decrease in joint pain
- Finger nails are strong and healthy
- Loads more energy!!!
So what is my plan now? I’ve started Round 3. I took one night off a few days in for a much needed date night with my husband. We enjoyed delicious food at one of our favorite restaurant, Goldfinch Tavern in the Four Seasons Hotel here in Seattle. I also decided it was “worth it” to have a couple glasses red wine. Did I feel guilty? Not one bit. Did I feel fabulous the next day? Meh…I was a little bloated in the morning and a little “foggy” but I made the commitment to get right back on the horse again and continue this journey.
Part of the life after Whole 30 whether you are completing another round or trying to incorporate the plan into your routine is figuring out how to make it work. Which food items set your body off? What makes you feel great? Giving into items that are “worth it” is part of the process, but only if you truly feel that you can accept the potential consequences of indulging and be okay with that.
After completing the first round last fall, I immediately picked up a copy of Food Freedom Forever because I too, was curious about how I was going to make this plan “stick” in my life. I’ve certainly been on many diets, cleanses and the like in my life and although the short term effects were great, I never figured out how to incorporate the “diet” into my life and not feel guilty about every. single. thing. I. put. into. my. mouth. Which, as we know, only creates more guilt and more mindless eating, etc.
Why I love this program so much is that I have never really felt deprived. After completing the first round, I went about my life following a Whole 30 plan while as much as possible, which equates to about 85% of the time. The rest of the time, I enjoy a glass of wine here and there and an occasional “treat”. And heck, if I only gained 3 pounds over the holidays enjoying more than the occasional indulgence…I will take it! 🙂
So…moving forward I plan to complete round 3. I will not be posting pictures as I will be giving myself more time for recipe development. While I was able to create some great dishes on Round Two, I was so busy taking and posting pictures to my Instagram feed that I didn’t get to do as much as I had hoped.
