Three weeks into our Whole30 and feeling great! Today was not much different than previous days, we enjoyed a leisurely Sunday morning then John took Charlie to the Pacific Science Center with another family for a few hours while I hit Target downtown.
While I live in Seattle, I haven’t made it a point to drive around much in the past few years. The streets were quiet and I was able to take in much of the new construction that is happening all over the city. In some places, I could hardly recognize where I was. The old haunts of my mid-late twenties were in some cases still there, but surrounded by mega skyscrapers, mostly apartments and condos to house the tens of thousands of Amazon and other tech company workers that the city now employs.
In thinking about NSVs (non scale victories) today, I think the biggest ones I am feeling are those in my body. The aches and pains I normally feel are significantly minimized. My lower back doesn’t scream at me when I stand from a seated position. My joints feel more fluid and mobile. And I’m sleeping better; deeper, more comfortably and longer.
For breakfast today I changed things up slightly. Instead of my usual two fried eggs, I enjoyed a (compliant) bacon and spinach scramble with hash browns.
Lunch was a spinach salad with Primal Kitchens Ranch Dressing, diced chicken breast, orange bell peppers, avocado and dry roasted almonds.
Dinner (sorry no picture), John made top sirloin with roasted fingerling potatoes and green beans.
I can’t believe tomorrow starts the beginning of our last week of this round!
